CI Yearbook

The Containerisation International Yearbook has been published for almost 40 years and is regarded by many as the definitive source of information for the container industry. The data is fully revised and updated each year to provide comprehensive information and contact details for the global container shipping and transport industry. The Containerisation International Yearbook is published by the Trade and Energy division of Informa.

Desktop application to manage the Yearbook

The source data for the Yearbook is maintained by a dedicated research team using a desktop application developed by Fusion. This application offers a wide range of rich functionality, including the ability to generate complex relationships such as those between shipping lines, vessels and the services operated right down to the level of individual terminals within ports. As part of the data maintenance facility, the application supports a wide range of validation including spell checking for text based entries. In addition to the data maintenance facilities, the application also offers a range of functionality to support the request for information updates from companies within the shipping industry. This takes the form of an export of all information currently held about the company, together with a covering letter requesting updates to the information. These requests may take the form of either printed documentation for postal despatch, or alternatively can be automatically despatched via email where this facility is available.

CI-Online Website

In addition to the printed book, the CI-Online website exposes a selected sub-set of information including ad-hoc reporting facilities in a number of areas. For example, the Transit Analyser section allows subscribers to select the origin and destination areas (regions, countries or individual ports) in which they are interested and to optionally restrict the report to specific shipping lines. The site will then dynamically generate a matrix of the shipping services and operating companies that provide services matching the selected criteria and the corresponding transit times between ports and days of calling within the selected areas. In addition, the matrix also features drill-down facilities to view details of individual services, ports and shipping lines.
